Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit the best Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer in the UK. Hahaha, Okay… I promise I’m not full of myself… but I’ve heard that whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right (credit to Mr Henry Ford for that one!). This is probably the hardest page to write on my whole website. Talking about photography is easy because I love it! Sharing my passion there is no trouble at all. Talking about myself is a whole different ball game!
So to ease me into this I’ll talk about what matters to me most. That’s my family, naturally. My husband and I were raised in South Africa and we’ve lived in England since 2004. Where did that decade go? If someone told me back then, that one day I would be a documentary wedding photographer, I’d have laughed at them. Never in my wildest dreams would I think it possible. I sometimes still can’t quite believe that this is my profession.
Michael and I got married and in 2007 and 2 years later we welcomed a gorgeous baby girl into our lives. Charlotte came along and changed our world completely, (Woah, enough with the cliches already!!). But it’s true…
I stopped working to spend time with her and I have never returned to a 9 to 5 job. It was after her birth that we got our first DSLR camera and I essentially taught myself photography. I photographed many kids and families and then a friend asked me to photograph her wedding. It was now 2011 and we’d just had our second child, Elizabeth, when I decided that if I was to do a good job of this wedding I really needed to get trained up in wedding photography.
I completed a year long academy course with The Trained Eye and immersed myself in the world of wedding and portrait photography. I did a lot of second shooting at weddings to learn as much as I could. I photographed that first wedding with all the butterflies you could imagine I’d have, but from my very first wedding I fell in love with wedding photography and all it has to offer.
So a bit about me and how I work… by nature I’m a people pleaser. I have been all my life. I’m friendly and get on with people very easily. I’m very calm when I’m working, I don’t stress easily and that’s good on a wedding day. I’m patient, which helps when waiting for that perfect moment and also for when we’re trying to get everyone to look in the same direction during formals! 🙂 I’m flexible, so if we hit a problem, we can work around it… without a fuss.
Having conversations with my clients ahead of their day is crucial to me, because just chatting about life, work and family allows us all to get to know each other a little better and on the day my clients are always at ease around me and can just be themselves, because they know me and trust me.
